Advice for treating Keratosis pilaris and Body Acne
Keratosis pilaris is a common skin condition in which a protein in the skin called keratin forms hard plugs within hair follicles.
Treatment
According to ‘Pro Med Health’ Moisturizing lotions are often soothing and may help the appearance of the skin. Skin creams with medications containing urea, lactic acid, glycolic acid and salicylic acid are recommended to help clear the skin condition.
Glycolic and Salicylic acid are the most common types of AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) These acids work as an exfoliant, by removing dead skin cells.
The use of alpha hydroxy acids may help improve acne, as well as soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and even out skin tone and texture.
Products containing AHA’s;
NeoStrata Daytime Smoothing cream Level 1 $37 I love this brand! I am currently using one of the cleansers which is also a Level 1 it has 4% glycolic acid which is the more gentle AHA out of the two. I have sensitive skin and use this after I wash my face at night time, I definantly see a difference with my overall look of my skin, helping to even out my skin tone.
Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Lotion $7-$10 Personally I have not tried this cream, however I have tried Calming Crème on my Eczema and loved it. I have read some reviews online and it seems that around 50% of people liked this for treating their Keratosis pilaris as some of them said that it irritated their skin. But for the price I say it is worth a try.
Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash $6-$10
This Product has ‘great reviews’ especially with people that suffer from body acne, the only problem you may find with this product is that it contains Salicylic Acid which is the harsher AHA of the two, may cause skin irritation with people who have sensitive skin it is also extremely drying so I would recommend applying a moisturiser after showering.
Reference’s
I am in my early 30’s and have been experiencing severe and embarassing break-outs along my jaw line, chin and cheeks for the past couple of years. I have tried Murad, Proactiv, AcneFree and many other systems without success.
A month ago I picked up the Neutrogena system when I saw it on sale. Within five days days my skin started to clear. Now, I have a completely clear complexion and have not had a single break-out since starting the system. I have had no problems with drying and my skin is much softer than before. Finally, a product that works and comes at a decent price!
That’s awesome! Thank-you for the feedback 🙂

I adore your blog, especially your shots, do you take them yourself? Here in England we’re blessed having a great range of flora, probably the most breathtaking of which are most likely the spring flowers. Am I Allowed To use a few of the pictures in my own flower blog? I would back-link any here of course. Emily Woods
Hello Zoe, thank-you for your lovely comment, I do use my own images as well as some others. I would love you to use my work for your blog however I would need you to let me know which ones you would like, so I can make sure that I am allowed to let you use them. Thank-you, Amanda.
